If any of you are on Pinterest there is a good chance you have seen the melted crayon rainbow art.  I thought the idea would be fun in the baby’s room so I set off to create my own.  The tutorial said they used a cont of 64 crayons but I grabbed the box of 96 crayons.  I think it turned out better with a few more color variations.  I enlisted my husbands help just for fun and at first he was a little bored, then we got to the melting and he had more fun.

First we hot glued the crayons on to the canvas, I bought a 24″x30″ canvas and made sure the length of crayons fit into the space.  After we glued the crayons we started the melting process, had we known how long this would take we may have not been as enthusiastic to start!  Our one recommendation would be to invest in a heat gun at the local hardware store.  We seriously melted for 4+ hours by the time it was all done!  And the hair dryer may not ever heat up again, oops.

With all the work I think the finish product turned out awesome.  Some other types of melted crayon art check out my Pinterest.  My favorite is the flowers with melted crayon stems.
